Cannes 2012: Reese Witherspoon shows off baby bump

She may not have formally announced her pregnancy, but actress Reese Witherspoon proudly displayed her baby bump on the red carpet in Cannes this weekend.

The 36-year-old actress flew in to the 65th Cannes Film Festival with husband, Hollywood agent Jim Toth, 41, late last week and on Saturday (May 26) showcased her growing bump in a black form-fitting jersey dress on the red carpet.

Pairing her gown with a pair of towering fuschia stilettos and dangling diamond earrings, Reese was in the French Riviera to promote her new movie, ‘Mud’, and later in the day showed off her pregnancy curves in a stunning midnight blue gown by Versace and dazzling jewels by Chopard.

Written and directed by indie filmmaker Jeff Nichols, 33, the movie also stars Matthew McConaughey, 42, as a fugitive hiding on an island in the Mississippi River.

“I grew up with my brother in a creek, riding dirt bikes, dirt fishing, everything you see the boys in the movie doing," Reese told reporters of her decision to take on the role. "When I read Jeff's script, it felt like home. It's a beautiful story about the place I'm from."

Reese, who already has two children, Ava, 12, and son Deacon, eight, from her first marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe, 37, has made no secret of the fact that she would like to have more children one day.

"I would love to have more kids," she told Britain's Closer magazine. "My children are the best part of my day."

Reese has previously admitted she is pleased to have finally found a man who is so “wonderful” with her children.

“You know, somebody close to me once said, 'Oh, no man will ever accept your children,'" she told Marie Claire magazine.  "And I just thought it was the most horrifying thing someone has ever said to me in my entire life.

"I was determined to find somebody who would make that not true. And I got lucky. I did. I got very lucky, and he's wonderful. And so wonderful with the children. I'm very blessed."
